Shed It medical weight loss in a nutshell:

  1. Shed It is an online GLP-1 weight loss program that combines prescription treatment with unlimited medical support and science-backed lifestyle tools.
  2. Shed It offers many versions of injectable and oral versions of GLP-1 medications, including Semaglutide, Tirzepatide, Liraglutide, and Orforglipron. Treatment costs include a $145 consultation fee and a medication fee determined by the type, form, and brand of medication prescribed.
  3. For those looking for subtle, gradual weight loss, Shed It also includes personalized microdosing medications. These injectable Semaglutide and Tirzepatide medications come in lower dosages than traditionally prescribed, and are enhanced with additives to reduce the risk of side effects.

Science confirms that only about 50% of our weight is within our control. That means exercise and nutrition only get us so far. Hormones and other metabolic processes change with age, potentially packing on pounds. Finally, if we’ve dieted to lose weight only to regain it, we’ve changed our muscle-to-fat proportion—not for the better.

The good news? Prescription GLP-1 weight loss medications can support our efforts, reducing the blood sugar levels, inflammation and hormonal processes that weigh bodies down.

And with Shed It, you get these medications with unlimited provider support and science-backed optimization tools.

What do you get with Shed It?

Other programs may consider total pounds lost as the only goal. But we crafted Shed It with whole-body health in mind. That means helping you articulate what you value most—like travel, playing with your kids, or using your body for your work. Then, improving your health so you can do more of the things you love.

Yes, our medical weight loss program will help you shed pounds. But it will also help you shed habits that keep you from living your best life.

Shed It includes:

  • A monthly consultation with a licensed provider.
  • A prescription for the GLP-1 medication that’s best for your body and budget.
  • Unlimited support check-ins with medical providers and the Dr. B team to address any questions or concerns.
  • Yearly blood work to monitor your holistic health, as required.
  • Dedicated pamphlets, emails and articles teaching you how to safely and confidently inject your medicine at home.
  • Timely email and text reminders to make sure you safely stay on our clinical course.
  • A colorful Shed It patient packet loaded with science-backed tips about medication safety, injection instructions, goal setting, action plans and more.
  • Exclusive articles written by health writers and reviewed by Dr. B medical advisors.
  • Weekly emails covering nutrition, fitness, mental health, financial savings and more.
  • Offers from our partners for in-person and at-home fitness and wellness programs.

How much does Shed It cost per month?

The monthly cost combines a Shed It consult fee + medication cost.

The Shed It program fee is $145 per month. It includes all the clinical care and program support listed above. The price does not change if your medication type or dosage changes. If you have insurance, you can have Dr. B find out if your plan covers this cost when you take your consultation, potentially reducing your out-of-pocket cost to your copay.

Your medication cost is determined by the type, form, and dosage of the prescribed medication. Also, whether you pay through insurance coverage or out-of-pocket (self-pay). For patients with insurance coverage, medication costs are the prescription copay set by your insurance provider. Medication costs for self-pay patients vary and may increase or decrease as you change medication dosage levels.

See below for a medication breakdown, or get a detailed look at costs on our Shed It pricing page.

What medications does Shed It offer?

Dr. B offers four types of GLP-1 weight management medication: Semaglutide, Tirzepatide, Liraglutide, and Orforglipron.

Semaglutide, Liraglutide, and Orfoglipron mimic the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) hormone naturally made in the body. Tirzepatide mimics GLP-1 and the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) hormone.

These hormones slow down digestion, so food takes longer to leave the stomach. They control how much insulin we secrete, which helps lower blood sugar levels. Some studies suggest they have an anti-inflammatory effect. GIP may also increase overall metabolism.

By mimicking these hormones around the clock, GLP-1 receptor agonist medications can help us feel fuller, eat less, have steady blood sugar levels, increase metabolism, and reduce inflammation.

Along with a healthy diet and exercise, studies show patients can lose 5-20% of their starting body weight in around one year of taking injectable GLP-1 medications! Medical conditions like high blood pressure or blood sugar often improve, too!

Does Shed It happen entirely online?

Most patients can experience Shed It entirely online, through our AI-powered platform. But Shed It was built by medical professionals with your health and safety in mind. So they’re with you every step of the way.

So most patients can connect monthly via a chat-like online consultation, then receive clinical resources and program materials entirely by email.

But if your state telehealth laws require it—or your doctor needs a little more info on your health history—you may briefly meet with your weight loss doctor via video visit. If you have treatment questions or treatment concerns, you can also choose to meet with your doctor via video.

And if you request a callback from a provider during treatment, they may text or call until they’ve fully answered your questions or concerns.

Is Shed It run by doctors?

Yes! Our online consultations were developed by licensed medical professionals—including doctors, registered nurses and licensed pharmacists—who follow all state and federal rules and regulations. They only prescribe medication if it’s safe and appropriate for you.

The Dr. B tech team then taps into the power of AI to create streamlined, convenient, and efficient consultations to save you as much time and money as possible.

As with any medication, GLP-1 medications can potentially cause uncomfortable side effects—especially in the early days. If you have any concerns throughout your program, you can talk to a medical provider or get technical or program help from the Dr. B support team.

How do I know if I qualify?

With Shed It, you can get prescription weight loss medication online if you’re in the US, over 18 and have a body mass index (BMI) of or above 27. Most patients only qualify for health insurance coverage if they have a BMI of/above 30, or they have a BMI of/above 27 and a qualifying comorbidity.

Not everyone can take these medications—even if their BMI qualifies. The only way to find out is to start an online weight loss consultation.

  1. You’ll share your medical history, health problems and body weight concerns. You may be required to take a video consultation, depending on your state. Otherwise, your consultation will occur entirely via chat (unless you choose to meet a licensed healthcare professional via video).
  2. A licensed provider will review your information. If you’re approved for Shed It, they’ll send a prescription for four weeks of weight loss medication to the appropriate pharmacy and email you with details.
  3. If you have insurance coverage, you'll pick up and pay for your brand-name medication at your chosen pharmacy. If you self-pay for a branded medication, you’ll complete your payment and shipment details on the appropriate pharmacy website. If prescribed a personalized compounded medication, you'll pay for and organize shipping through Dr. B.
  4. Dr. B will send weekly support emails on medication safety, injection tips, nutrition and fitness and more.
  5. When it’s time to do blood work or take your next consultation, Dr. B will email you!
